About The Role

As an Occupational Health Nurse at TAC Healthcare, you will play a vital role in delivering a comprehensive Occupational Health Nursing service across a variety of client sites. Working in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice (or equivalent), you will contribute to the promotion of employee health, wellbeing, and safety while supporting the Occupational Health team to meet dynamic business needs.

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in both clinical and advisory environments and is passionate about providing a high standard of care in line with current legislation and best practice.

The role is based in Teesside, working at our TAC Healthcare clinic and client sites. This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday-Friday.

What you will do:

As part of our Occupational Health team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical services across multiple industries. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting health surveillance including audiometry and spirometry.
  • Perform medicals such as industry standard medicals, pre-placement medicals, substance abuse screening.
  • Perform Specialist medicals (for example - working at heights, confined space, night worker, lone worker medicals, driver medicals).
  • Managing occupational health cases through face-to-face and telephone assessments.
  • Undertaking clinical and stock checks, ordering supplies, and ensuring efficient remote clinic operations.
  • Providing cover at local client sites and supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate, thorough clinical records in line with GDPR, NMC, GMC, and local policy.
  • Liaising with HR and HSE teams to support sickness absence management and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promoting best practices aligned with internal policies and professional standards.
  • Escalating any evolving risks or concerns promptly to senior management.

About you

  • You are a Registered Nurse (Adult or equivalent) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and have a solid foundation in Occupational Health, ideally with experience working across multiple industries, including Oil and Gas.
  • To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following essential qualifications and requirements:
  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult or Equivalent)
  • Proven case management experience and ability to conduct both face-to-face and telephone-based assessments
  • Previous experience in offsite Occupational Health work, ideally in diverse and industrial settings
  • Audiometry and spirometry competence
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
  • Strong IT skills, particularly within Microsoft 365 and MS Office Suite
  • Experience in delivering a variety of medicals, including Industry standard, pre-placement, and substance misuse screening & specialist medicals, (e.g. working at height, confined space, lone worker, driver medicals).

You can work independently and autonomously, maintaining high standards while managing your own clinical workload. You’re confident in making decisions within your scope of practice and know when to escalate complex situations.

Key skills and attributes:

  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills - whether by email, phone, or video
  • Able to manage and maintain a remote clinical site, including daily clinical and stock checks
  • A commitment to upholding professional standards, patient confidentiality, and compliance with GDPR, NMC Code, and relevant policies
  • Experience liaising with clients' HR and HSE teams to support sickness absence management and risk control
  • Comfortable with flexibility and change, and resilient in dynamic environments
  • Willing to provide peer support to junior team members and contribute to continuous service improvement

Preferred (but not essential) qualifications/experience include:

  • Occupational Health Diploma or Degree and/or SCPHN (required for Advisor-level roles)
  • HAVS Tier 3 certification
  • Travel Health training
  • Experience with Nurse-based OEUK medicals
